Description:

An intense ruby red color tending toward garnet with aging, it offers elegant aromas of roses and violets, morello cherry and berry jam, with hints of spice and licorice that create a complex and refined bouquet. On the palate, it is soft and warm, enveloping and elegant, with dense tannins, structure, and great character. The wine combines freshness, elegance, complexity, and great aging potential. It pairs magnificently with rich first courses such as tagliatelle with ragù, structured white dishes with mushrooms and sausages, grilled or stewed meats, Florentine steak, and sliced beef. It also pairs beautifully with Tuscan specialties such as pappardelle with wild boar, scaloppine with mushrooms, and aged cheeses.

This is Boscarelli's oldest Vino Nobile label, the one most representative and emblematic of the winery's philosophy. Since its first release in 1968, it has consistently accounted for about half of the production, with its composition and aging process remaining essentially unchanged, and an annual production of approximately 50,000 bottles. Its history begins in 1962 when Egidio Corradi, after spending his life between Genoa and Milan as an international broker, driven by his innate passion for wine, purchased two small, semi-abandoned estates in Cervognano di Montepulciano. The founder's vision was reinvigorated by his daughter Paola Corradi and her husband Ippolito De Ferrari, who in the 1960s planted the first specialized vineyards and built the first real winery. Today, his sons Luca and Nicolò continue to do so. The winery owns 20 hectares of vineyards in Cervognano, located at an altitude of 300 meters on the eastern and northeast slopes of Montepulciano. The alluvial soils are rich in gravel and sand, lending character and minerality. Vino Nobile is produced with grapes selected from vineyards that are at least 10 years old. The grapes are hand-harvested into crates. After destemming and gentle pressing, they ferment in oak or stainless steel vats with native yeasts for approximately a week at 28-30°C, with manual pumping over and punching down, followed by maceration for another 5-8 days. The wine is aged in 5- to 35-hl Allier and Slavonian oak barrels for 18-24 months, where malolactic fermentation also takes place. This is followed by light filtration and bottle aging for several months. The wine has a aging potential of several decades, with optimal maturity between the fifth and eighth years.
