Description:

Ruby red in color with purple highlights, it presents an intense and distinctive bouquet on the nose with notes of red and black fruits, Mediterranean spices, aromatic herbs, volcanic minerality, and balsamic nuances typical of Lucanian Aglianico. On the palate, it is structured yet elegant, with soft tannins, balanced acidity, and a long finish with spicy and mineral notes. It pairs beautifully with roasted red meats, lamb, game, aged cheeses like Pecorino di Filiano, and Lucanian cured meats. Perfect with local specialties such as lamb with cruschi peppers, capocollo di Picerno, and traditional Lucanian pastoral dishes.

"Franco" pays homage to the authenticity and directness of Aglianico, a grape variety of Greek origin that has found a privileged home in Basilicata. Arteteke vinifies this varietal following southern Italian tradition: spontaneous fermentation, extended maceration to extract color and structure, and aging in large oak barrels to preserve the varietal character. Aglianico is grown on mineral-rich volcanic soils, harvested strictly by hand, and vinified without invasive technological interventions. The goal is to create a sincere and territorial wine that expresses the authentic personality of this ancient grape variety, a symbol of Lucanian viticulture and the winemaking tradition of Southern Italy in general.
