Designation of origin:
Aglianico del Vulture IGT
Color: red
Type: still
Grape variety: Aglianico
Alcohol content: 13.5%
Bottling location: Basilicata, ITALY
Description:
A deep ruby red with purple highlights, it presents a complex, Mediterranean bouquet on the nose with notes of ripe red fruits, southern spices, aromatic herbs, volcanic minerality, and balsamic nuances typical of southern Aglianico. On the palate, it is structured and powerful, with substantial yet ripe tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, persistent finish with spicy and mineral notes. It pairs beautifully with roasted red meats, lamb, game, aged cheeses like Pecorino di Filiano DOP, and cured meats. Perfect with local specialties like lamb with herbs, goat stew, cruschi peppers, and traditional Lucanian country dishes.
Arteteke was born from the passion of young winemakers who chose to revive and enhance Basilicata's winemaking tradition, applying principles of natural agriculture and non-interventionist winemaking. The winery is located in the heart of the region, an area that has been dedicated to growing this grape of Greek origin for millennia, and which has found its ideal home in Lucania. Russe represents the most direct expression of Aglianico (it simply means "red" and the final "e" is silent), vinified using traditional techniques: spontaneous fermentation, long macerations, and aging in large oak barrels that respect the varietal's personality.
