Description:
Bright straw yellow in color, it offers fresh and fruity aromas on the nose, with notes of white flowers, white peach, apricot, citrus, and a delicate volcanic minerality typical of the Vulture terroir. On the palate, it is fresh and fruity, with good structure and excellent balance, balancing softness with a pleasant acidity that adds vivacity. The minerality of the ancient extinct volcano and the temperature variations of the Lucanian hinterland give the wine a unique character. It pairs excellently with fish-based first courses, seafood appetizers, grilled fish, aperitifs, and fresh cheeses. Perfect with Lucanian specialties such as caciocavallo podolico, peperoni cruschi, and traditional Basilicata dishes. Serve at 10-12°C.
At the heart of the Carbone winery are two siblings, Sara and Luca, who left everything behind to return to the slopes of Mount Vulture in Basilicata and reestablish Carbone Vini, reclaiming the family vineyards planted by their parents in the 1970s and abandoned when the two siblings were teenagers. The winery is located in a symbolic spot for the area: Toppo San Paolo in the Braide area, directly above the first historic crater of the Vulture complex, on brown, volcanic soils rich in potassium. They use ancient underground cellars in the center of town, carved into the volcanic tuff, as their cellars, ideal for storing wine. The first wine was produced in 2005, when plans for the winery and new vineyards began. Today, after several years of joint management, the baton has been entirely passed into the hands of Luca, who continues the project with love and passion: seven hectares of Aglianico and Fiano, certified organic since 2015, in a land devoted to viticulture for at least two thousand years. The Fiano rests for six months on the lees before being bottled in approximately 25,000 bottles in total.
