Description:
Thanks to the brown, calcareous soils, the Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is golden in color with beautiful green highlights. The nose is elegantly woody with notes of butter, hawthorn, spice, and honey. On the palate, the overall flavor is structured, well-balanced, and persistent on the finish. It certainly has excellent aging potential for over twenty years.
Over the years, the estate of the two Bachelet brothers, Marc and Alexandre, has expanded from small plots between Santenay and Maranges to the more northern regions of Saint-Aubin, Chassagne, Puligny, Meursault, and Pommard, encompassing 20 different appellations on just over 20 hectares of land. Their winemaking practices, closely aligned with organic and biodynamic practices (including bottling according to the lunar calendar), include aging for 18 to 20 months in large barrels containing 20 to 35% new wood, with results among the best in the Côte de Beaune.
