Description:
Bright and intense golden yellow with a fine, persistent perlage, the nose opens with elegant notes of white flowers, citrus, Abate pear, and Golden Delicious apple, followed by hints of bread crust and fresh almond. On the palate, it displays a strong structure, with fruity and floral notes and herbaceous nuances, excellent balance and persistence. Ideal as an aperitif, it is also excellent throughout a meal, pairing refined first and second courses of fish and white meat.
The Riccardi family's winemaking history dates back to the late 1800s, when the grapes grown in their estate vineyards were still vinified for family use in the old vat room of the Oratory of San Rocco in San Colombano, or traded for other consumer goods. It wasn't until the late 1940s that Franco Riccardi, after winning four Olympic gold medals in fencing competitions, decided to give the family wine a boost and bring it to the tables of Milanese people (the homage to the Lombard capital is evident in the name and label). Now, the grapes from the company's 30 hectares of vineyards are aged for 30 months on the lees, followed by four months in the bottle after disgorgement.
