Description:
A bright pale pink with a fine, persistent perlage, it reveals delicate notes of fresh red fruits, particularly strawberry and raspberry, accompanied by hints of citrus and a subtle floral touch. On the palate, it is fresh and elegant, with a lovely acidic tension balanced by fruity notes and a refined minerality that extends into a persistent, harmonious finish.
The Riccardi family's winemaking history dates back to the late 1800s, when the grapes grown in their estate vineyards were still vinified for family use in the old vat room of the Oratory of San Rocco in San Colombano, or traded for other consumer goods. It wasn't until the late 1940s that Franco Riccardi, after winning four Olympic gold medals in fencing competitions, decided to give the family wine a boost and bring it to the tables of Milanese people (the homage to the Lombard capital is evident in the name and label). Now, the grapes from the company's 30 hectares of vineyards are aged for 30 months on the lees, followed by four months in the bottle after disgorgement.
