Description:
With a typical rosé color, the nose offers a charming citrus freshness of red fruits accompanied by buttery, chalky, and yeasty notes. The palate is smooth and well-balanced, subtle, and very persistent.
Over eight generations of Larmandiers make it one of the oldest independent wineries in the Côte des Blancs, having managed to earn its share of the market in the first twenty years thanks to the ambition of its founder, Jules Larmandier, who immediately, since 1899, had grasped the potential of his great Chardonnay crus as the purest expression of the terroir.
The Chardonnay grapes come mostly from the Grand Crus of Chouilly, Oger, and Cramant and the Premier Crus of Cuis and Vertus, while the Pinot Noir variety comes from the Grand Cru of Bouzy and a small portion from the Cru of Cumières. All vines have an average age of 35 years and have been grown biodynamically for over 20 years, using indigenous yeasts and undergoing lengthy aging on the lees in barrels. This combination gives this wine the distinctive fresh minerality that has made it famous.
