Description:

Intense ruby red in color with purple highlights, it offers elegant, fruity, and spicy aromas of red and black berries, floral notes, and hints of spice, licorice, and currant. On the palate, it is generous and medium-bodied with good acidity and rounded, well-polished tannins that make for a very pleasant tasting experience, structured with a lovely length. The blend perfectly balances fruit, spice, and acidity. It pairs beautifully with charcuterie platters, moussaka, eggplant parmigiana, grilled viandes and rôties, steak tartare, savory pasta dishes, and cheeses. Perfect with Rhone Valley specialties and Mediterranean cuisine.

Parallèle 45 takes its name from the famous 45th parallel north, a latitude where great wines are produced around the world, passing just two kilometers south of the Paul Jaboulet Aîné cellars. A classic since 1950, Parallèle 45 is celebrated worldwide for its exceptional quality and generous character. Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné was founded in 1834 in Tain-l'Hermitage by Antoine Jaboulet and remained a family business for seven generations, until 2006, when it was purchased by the Frey family (owners of Château La Lagune in Bordeaux) with the goal of reviving the excitement of the 1990s and making it shine internationally. The grapes come from 40-year-old certified organic vineyards planted on calcareous-clay soils and alluvial deposits. Harvesting is done manually at full maturity. The different varietals are co-fermented with the Grenache to lock in color and tannins, while the Syrah is vinified separately with maceration and gentle extraction for approximately three weeks. The wine ages for six months in stainless steel tanks and conical vats on fine lees. 2021 began with frost, rain, and hail in winter and spring, but the summer was cooler with rain in early September, allowing the grapes to reach optimal ripeness.
