Appellation of origin: Champagne AOC

Type: sparkling wine
Grape variety: Chardonnay
Alcohol content: 12%
Bottling location: Epernay (FRANCE)
Description:
As its name suggests, it is made exclusively from white grapes, specifically, in the Champagne region, 100% Chardonnay. Straw-yellow in color with greenish highlights and a fine, long-lasting perlage, it opens on the nose with mineral and yeasty notes that linger through the palate, with broad notes of white flowers like jasmine and elderflower, tangy citrus fruits like grapefruit, sweet citrus fruits like lime, and dry pastries. Intense and well-balanced, with a pleasantly persistent finish, it is excellent as an aperitif and is at its best paired with fish dishes and soft cheeses.
Perrier-Jouët was founded in 1811 in Epernay, from the marriage of cork manufacturer Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Adele Jouët. This marriage would lead to the creation of the first ever brut Champagne in 1854 (and their son Charles, who encouraged its production), as well as the practice of mentioning the vineyard and harvest year on the label. A regular supplier to Queen Victoria, Napoleon III, and the royal families of Sweden and Belgium, Perrier-Jouët built its reputation by prioritizing quality over quantity, successfully preserving, cellarman after cellarman, the oldest known Champagne vintage (1825).
