From one of the oldest distilleries in the United States, with a tradition dating back to 1773, and one of the very few authorized during Prohibition to continue production for "medicinal purposes." Aged in new, charred American white oak barrels as required by the category, but for a period of 10 years, exceeding the minimum requirements, and using a recipe (mashbill) that includes over 70% corn, complemented by rye and malted barley. Distillation takes place in a column still followed by a doubler (a type of pot still), a combination that yields a rich yet elegant bourbon, with complex notes of caramel, honey, toasted oak, leather, and sweet spices, and a long, balanced finish.
