Description:

A medium-intense garnet red with orange highlights, it offers fresh notes of currant on the nose, followed by spicy and toasted notes, with the clean yet delicate aromas typical of high-altitude Nebbiolo. On the palate, it is elegant, enveloping the palate with silky tannins and closing with a long, fresh and savory finish, clean and slightly tannic. The structure is balanced with a pronounced minerality that reflects Inferno's Alpine terroir. It pairs magnificently with traditional Valtellina braised meats, furred game such as venison and roe deer, aged cheeses such as Bitto and Casera DOP, and Valtellina cured meats such as bresaola and violino di capra. Perfect with local specialties such as pizzoccheri della Valtellina, polenta taragna, and sciatt.

The Ar.Pe.Pe. winery (an acronym for Arturo Pelizzatti Perego) has a centuries-old tradition dating back to 1860, the era of Italian unification. After several changes in ownership and the sale of the brand in 1973, Arturo Pelizzatti Perego rekindled his passion in 1984, buying back everything and restoring the winery to its former glory under the new Ar.Pe.Pe brand. L'Inferno comes from the subzone of the same name, located at 450 meters above sea level with a southern exposure. It is vinified with prolonged maceration in chestnut vats and aged for at least a year and a half in oak tonneaux and stainless steel. The winery philosophy calls for very long aging periods and bottling according to the phases of the moon, creating wines that tell the story of the vineyards and Alpine vintages.
