Description:
Intense straw yellow with a fine, creamy perlage, the nose opens with notes of white-fleshed fruit, acacia blossoms, and citrus fruits such as lemon and citron, accompanied by hints of brioche and almondy, slightly powdery nuances. The palate is full and vibrant, with great energy and a pleasant freshness, perfectly balanced by the pleasant savory character.
Produced in the easternmost part of Franciacorta, in the Gussago subzone characterized by calcareous soils, this blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is vinified as a white wine by Nicola Gatta, a winemaker whose production philosophy is based on the pursuit of authenticity and respect for the terroir. Low yields, abstention from chemical additives, and a focus on perfect maturation of the grapes according to biodynamic principles are among the hallmarks of Gatta's production, which continues in the cellar with spontaneous fermentations without subsequent fining or filtration and, in this case, maturation on fine lees for 40 months ("lune"). The name of this cuvée recalls the 400 meters above sea level of the winery's highest vineyards, which contributes to the wine's unique characteristics in the Franciacorta landscape, to the point that it is not considered necessary to adhere to the regulations of the eponymous appellation.
