Type: Marasca cherry liqueur
Alcohol content: 30%
Manufacturer: Luxardo (Veneto, Italy)
Created in 1821 in Zadar, this historic liqueur owes its name to the Dalmatian Morlach soldiers. It uses the famous Luxardo Marasca cherries, a special variety of sour cherry grown on their own land according to rigorous specifications. The cherries are left to ferment naturally with the branches and stones for at least two years in oak vats, a process that imparts the characteristic dark red, almost purple, color and a unique aromatic profile. The maceration also includes Marasca leaves, which contribute to the liqueur's complexity. On the nose, it presents intense notes of ripe cherry and almond. On the palate, the typical tartness of Marasca emerges, balanced by a moderate sweetness, with a long and complex finish featuring notes of bitter almond, spice, and subtle tannins.
