Description:
In the glass, an impenetrable dark red with garnet highlights, it presents intense aromas of ripe red fruit, such as dried black cherry, sweet spices, and toasted notes of wood and tobacco. On the palate, it is deep and vigorous, full-bodied, with dense, ripe tannins well-integrated with a crisp acidity that prolongs the drink and promises excellent aging potential. The finish is long and spicy, with a savory, slightly bloody aftertaste. Excellent paired with well-structured dishes such as stewed wild boar, braised and roast duck, as well as aged cheeses and pappardelle with hare ragù.
Here Quacquarini raises the bar: Petronio is the most ambitious version of Vernaccia Nera, made from carefully selected grapes left to dry for about two months before vinification, which involves a long maturation in barrels for almost three years, followed by bottle aging for at least another two years.
