Designation of Origin: Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC Classico Superiore
Color: white
Type: still
Grape variety: Verdicchio
Alcohol content: 13%
Bottling location: Morro d'Alba (AN) ITALY
Description:
Straw yellow in color with intense greenish highlights, it offers aromas of acacia, broom, wildflowers, and chamomile, along with typical Verdicchio bitter almond notes. On the palate, it is dry, savory, and mineral, with fruity notes of green apple, hints of flint, and a pleasantly almondy finish that perfectly expresses the varietal character. Aging on the lees for five months lends complexity and structure without weighing down the aromatic profile. It pairs well with pasta or rice first courses, both raw and cooked fish, mussels, white meats, fresh cheeses from the Marche region, and battered vegetables. Perfect with local specialties such as Ancona-style fish soup, vincisgrassi, stuffed olives, and cheeses such as Pecorino dei Sibillini.
Marotti Campi produces high-quality wines in the Marche region, in the classic Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi zone. The vineyards are located in Morro d'Alba, 180 meters above sea level, with a northeast-northwest exposure on mixed, clay-rich soil. The Guyot training system, with a density of 2,300 vines per hectare, ensures high-quality grapes. Harvest takes place by hand in mid-September, using wooden crates that are immediately taken to the cellar to preserve the integrity of the bunches. Vinification involves soft pressing and fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 15°C, followed by maturation on the fine lees for at least five months. Aged for six months in stainless steel and three months in bottle, creating a Verdicchio Superiore that best expresses the terroir of the classic zone.
