Description:

Ruby red in color with garnet highlights, the nose presents complex aromas ranging from hints of licorice to notes of blueberry, wild herbs, and balsamic echoes in the finish. On the palate, the wine combines softness and pleasant tannic acidity, carried by good acidity to a savory finish. The balance between structure and elegance represents the classic Gagliardo style, combining tradition and approachability. It pairs magnificently with Piedmontese braised meats, roast red meats, lamb, game, and aged Langhe cheeses such as Castelmagno and Raschera. It also pairs beautifully with local specialties such as agnolotti del plin, tajarin with truffles, and traditional Langhe dishes.

Poderi Gianni Gagliardo, in business since 1974, has its roots in the Colla family, who have been cultivating vineyards in Piedmont since 1847, moving from Santo Stefano Belbo to Diano d'Alba and La Morra. The company boasts 30 organic vineyards spread across the Langhe and Roero, producing 160,000 bottles. The Barolo vineyards are located in La Morra, Barolo, Monforte d'Alba, and Serralunga, with a wide distribution across the finest subzones. The "Gianni Gagliardo" Barolo represents the traditional blend of the estate's various vineyards, the only testament to the historic approach before concentrating on single-vineyard crus. The 2015 version ages for six months in used barriques and then in large oak barrels.
