The Barbancourt distillery, founded in 1862 by Dupré Barbancourt, a Frenchman originally from Charente, is one of the most prestigious distilleries in Haiti and the Caribbean. It produces agricultural rum using the French method, starting with fresh sugarcane juice rather than molasses, as is traditional in the French Antilles. Distillation takes place in copper column stills, following the system Dupré Barbancourt imported from his home region.

This rum ages for 15 years in Limousin French oak barrels, which lend the spirit its complexity and finesse. Haiti's tropical climate accelerates the aging process, allowing the rum to reach exceptional maturity. The 15-year-old reserve, also known as "Estate Reserve" or "5 Stars," is one of the distillery's flagship products, prized by connoisseurs for its elegant and complex aromatic profile that perfectly balances notes of vanilla, tropical fruit, spices, and a delicate touch of wood.
