Hampden Estate, founded in 1753, is one of Jamaica's oldest and most prestigious distilleries, renowned for producing rum using traditional methods that have remained virtually unchanged over the centuries. Rum is high in esters, crafted through unique spontaneous fermentation techniques. Among these, Rum Fire represents the purest and most intense expression of the Hampden style: high-quality Jamaican molasses is fermented in open-air wooden vats using wild yeasts and "muck"—a traditional acidic preparation rich in bacteria that contributes to the development of esters during the process—for approximately three weeks, much longer than average, allowing for the development of intense and complex aromas. Distillation takes place in double copper pot stills, still directly heated as per tradition. The rum is bottled directly after distillation at 63% ABV, preserving its full aromatic intensity.
