Diplomatico Collection N2 Column Barbet Rum takes its name from the copper distillation column used to produce it, the Barbet Column Still, introduced by the company in 1959. This allows for a lighter and more refined distillate than traditional stills. The rum is aged in ex-bourbon American oak barrels for an unspecified period, but long enough to impart complexity and depth. This is further enhanced by the tropical climate at the foot of the Venezuelan Andes, which favors accelerated maturation of the rum.
