Description:

A deep ruby red with garnet highlights, it opens on the nose with a broad and complex bouquet, where notes of ripe red fruits, particularly blackberry and black cherry, intertwine with hints of Mediterranean scrub, myrtle, and rosemary, and elegant spicy notes of black pepper, licorice, and bitter cocoa, enriched with subtle balsamic nuances. Enveloping on the palate, with spicy notes of dark fruit and Mediterranean herbs, supported by fine and perfectly integrated tannins, it has a substantial yet balanced structure, with a freshness that balances the rich alcohol and a long, mineral finish. Ideal as a meditation wine, it is perfect with roasted red meats, such as porceddu al mirt, with traditional dishes like malloreddus alla campidanese, but also with game and aged cheeses.

Founded in 1960 as a cooperative of producers in Sulcis, in the southwest of the island, Cantina Santadi is today one of Sardinia's most important and renowned wineries, especially for its revitalization of native grape varieties. Terre Brune, produced since 1984, is not only one of the estate's flagship wines, but is practically a symbol of Sardinian winemaking. It owes its name to the dark soils of Sulcis, which not only give it its characteristic minerality, but whose sandy soil has allowed the Carignano vines to resist phylloxera and to be still grown ungrafted today, some for over a hundred years. Vinification also follows traditional methods: after a long maceration on the skins followed by aging for approximately 16-18 months in French oak barrels, a further period of bottle aging is planned. The consultancy of winemaker Giacomo Tachis has contributed significantly to the winery's qualitative evolution.
