Description:
With an intense ruby red color, it offers a bouquet of ripe red fruits, Mediterranean spices, and balsamic notes. On the palate, it is warm and enveloping, with soft tannins and a lingering finish of fruity and spicy notes. Perfect with rich, traditional Sicilian first courses such as Pasta alla Norma or Pasta with Sardines, it pairs well with grilled red meats, roasts, and medium-aged cheeses. It pairs particularly well with grilled tuna.
The winemaking process involves fermentation in stainless steel and subsequent aging in French barriques, combining Sicilian tradition with modern techniques. The vineyards are located in the Palermo hinterland, where the Mediterranean climate and clay-limestone soils give the grapes unique characteristics.
Cusumano is a story of family and innovation. Founded in 2001 by brothers Alberto and Diego, the winery quickly established a prominent position in the Sicilian winemaking scene thanks to its uncompromising respect for native grape varieties combined with cutting-edge winemaking techniques, especially those aimed at sustainability (solar energy and water conservation in the vineyards). The winery owns vineyards in various areas of Sicily, each chosen for its unique characteristics: from the San Giacomo estate, ideal for Nero d'Avola, to the high-hill vineyards of Presti and Pegni, perfect for Grillo.
