Description:
It features a brilliant straw yellow color with greenish highlights. The bouquet is fresh and Mediterranean, with immediate notes of citrus, orange blossom, and aromatic herbs that blend with hints of white peach and a hint of sage. As it matures in the glass, it reveals delicate nuances of Mediterranean scrub and a subtle marine minerality. On the palate, it is fresh, with a pleasant savory flavor perfectly balanced by its lean structure and vibrant acidity. The palate is dominated by citrus notes, medicinal herbs, and nuances of white-fleshed fruit. The finish is persistent and refreshing, with a lightly citrusy aftertaste. A highly versatile wine at the table, it pairs perfectly with Mediterranean seafood cuisine, ideal with fish appetizers, both raw and marinated, grilled fish main courses, or aperitifs with fresh cheeses. It is also excellent with light fish and vegetable-based first courses, such as pasta with sardines or Trapani-style fish couscous.
The De Bartoli winery, founded in 1978 by Marco De Bartoli, is today a benchmark for quality Sicilian viticulture. The estate, which extends across 40 hectares in the Marsala area and on the island of Pantelleria, stands out for its decidedly traditional yet no less revolutionary approach, with minimal intervention, a commitment to organic practices, spontaneous fermentations, and lengthy aging, respecting as closely as possible ancient local winemaking traditions. In this case, the choice to blend Zibibbo and Grillo, two grape varieties traditionally vinified separately, once again demonstrates De Bartoli's ability to innovate within tradition, with a wine that fully expresses the terroir (not surprisingly, sun and wind) yet is still easily approachable, a sort of "calling card" for those experiencing their wines for the first time.
