Description:

Deep amber in color with golden highlights, it offers a broad and complex bouquet of dried fruit, toasted almonds, dates, and dried figs, with delicious notes of caramel, candied orange peel, and an elegant touch of spice. On the palate, it is dry, warm, and enveloping, with an extraordinary complexity that unfolds through notes of dried fruit, coffee, fine wood, and an intense marine flavor. The finish is infinitely long and persistent.

Marsala Vergine represents the denomination's most prized and long-lived style, characterized by the absence of cooked must and added sugars. This 1982 Riserva from Èxito has undergone a long aging period, at least 10 years in oak barrels, developing extraordinary complexity. The "Vergine" designation indicates that it is a dry Marsala, obtained by fortifying base wines with wine alcohol to reach 19% ABV. The 1982 vintage is considered excellent for Marsala, and this example represents a piece of Sicilian winemaking history.
