Description:

Ruby red with garnet highlights, it offers intense notes of cherry, berries, and rose hips on the nose, with balsamic nuances and a characteristic volcanic minerality. On the palate, it is elegant and refined, with silky yet evident tannins and a vibrant freshness typical of Etna wines. The finish is persistent with a return of fruity and mineral notes. Ideal with Sicilian dishes, grilled red and white meats, and medium-aged cheeses. It pairs well with elaborate dishes such as braised meats, ragù, and mushroom-based dishes. It is also excellent with Pasta alla Norma.

Tenute Ballasanti produces this Etna Rosso from vineyards located on the slopes of the volcano, approximately 600 meters above sea level, where the lava soils, unique microclimate, and altitude give the wines unique characteristics. The traditional bush-trained training system also makes these vines a rare gem, as some of the vines are over 100 years old, expressing the full generative power of the blend. After manual harvesting, destemming and crushing, and an initial fermentation, two weekly delestages and numerous punching downs are performed to ensure optimal oxygenation and color extraction. Aged exclusively in stainless steel tanks, the wine enhances all of its varietal elegance.
