Description:
With a deep ruby red color, it offers a distinctive bouquet of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, a hallmark of the Diemersfontein style, accompanied by notes of ripe plum. On the palate, it is rounded and enveloping, with silky tannins and a pleasant freshness. Excellent with game, meat stews, and traditional spicy South African dishes like bobotie.
Pinotage, a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault created in 1925 by Abraham Izak Perold, is South Africa's flagship grape. Diemersfontein pioneered the development of the "coffee-chocolate" style that has made this grape internationally renowned. The winemaking process here includes temperature-controlled fermentation with selected yeasts and aging in American oak barrels, which contributes to the characteristic toasted notes.
