Description:

With a deep ruby ​​red color, it releases notes of red fruits and tobacco on the nose, with hints of cocoa, dark spices, and licorice. On the palate, it is extremely enveloping and velvety in its tannins, with an incredible and enjoyable persistence. It lends itself to very long aging, unleashing all the richness of its aromatics over the years.

Practically a legend in contemporary winemaking, it was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barrique, a sort of precursor to the "Super Tuscans" as the first modern red wine blended with non-traditional varieties, such as Bordeaux Cabernet Sauvignon, and among the first red wines in Chianti not to use white grapes. Originally called Chianti Classico Riserva Vigneto Tignanello, it still contained 20% Canaiolo and 5% Trebbiano and Malvasia, and only since 1982 has its composition remained unchanged, and it has been produced exclusively in the finest vintages. From harvest to fermentation in truncated cone-shaped tanks and aging for 14-16 months in oak barrels, the musts are treated to extract and preserve as much of their aromas and elegant tannins as possible.
