Description:

Intense ruby ​​red in color with garnet highlights, the nose presents a generous and elegant bouquet of ripe red fruits such as black cherry and blackberry, with notes of spice, tobacco, licorice, and a pleasant balsamic touch. On the palate, it is powerful and refined, with a substantial structure supported by perfectly integrated silky tannins and a fresh acidity that lends balance and aging potential. The finish is extremely long and persistent, with a return of fruity and spicy notes. Perfect with traditional Tuscan dishes such as Florentine steak, wild boar stew, or game, it also pairs magnificently with aged cheeses such as aged Pecorino Toscano. Its substantial structure also makes it ideal with elaborate dishes such as braised meats and roasts.

One of the most famous and prestigious Super Tuscans and the flagship of the Fontodi winery, located in the heart of Chianti Classico, in a natural amphitheater known as the "Conca d'Oro" for its unique shape and favorable microclimate. Unlike many Super Tuscans that include international varieties, Flaccianello is made with 100% Sangiovese, expressing Giovanni Manetti's vision of a wine that represents the purest essence of the terroir. The grapes come from select vineyards cultivated according to organic and biodynamic principles. After fermentation with indigenous yeasts, the wine ages in French oak barrels for approximately 18-24 months, followed by an additional 10 months in bottle. The 2021 vintage is considered excellent in Tuscany, with a perfect balance between ripeness and freshness.
