Description:
It displays a deep, intense ruby red with subtle garnet highlights. The nose reveals a layered and elegant bouquet: ripe berries, blackcurrant, plum, balsamic notes of eucalyptus and myrtle, with hints of licorice, graphite, and sweet tobacco. On the palate, it is structured yet refined, with a decisive attack, chiseled tannins, and a crisp acidity that ensures freshness and depth. The finish is long and harmonious, with fruity and spicy aftertaste, reflecting the precision of the vintage and the winery's legendary craftsmanship. A fine-dining red, it is best paired with rich dishes such as beef fillet with green peppercorns or truffles, roast pigeon, wild boar in dolceforte (sweet and sour sauce), or braised Livorno-style, as well as radicchio risotto and mature cheeses.
Tenuta San Guido, founded in the 1940s by Marquis Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, is a symbol of Italian wine throughout the world, today extending over 2,500 hectares, approximately 100 of which are under vine.
Sassicaia was the first Super Tuscan to establish itself on an international scale, so much so that in 1994 it obtained an exclusive DOC – Bolgheri Sassicaia – a unique case in Italy.
The Sassicaia grapes come from hillside vineyards between 100 and 300 meters above sea level, on calcareous soils rich in marl and pebbles. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with gentle pumping over and maceration on the skins for approximately 10-12 days.
It is then aged for 25 months in French oak barriques, 40% new, and at least 6 months in bottle before being released for sale.
A style that combines the Bordeaux soul of the cut with the Mediterranean elegance of the Maremma.
