With a deep ruby red color, the nose offers intense notes of violet, cherry, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is quite consistent, full-bodied, soft, and balanced in tannins, as well as balanced in flavor and acidity. Excellent with meat-based appetizers, soups, and full-bodied, flavorful first courses in general, poultry and white meats, game, vegetables, and aged cheeses.
Lagrein is one of Alto Adige's most iconic native grape varieties. The Bellutti Weimberghof winery, located in the municipality of Termeno (Tramin), a renowned area for Alto Adige viticulture (appropriately called the "Wine Road"), interprets this grape according to local tradition. The unique terroir, characterized by porphyry soils and an Alpine climate tempered by Mediterranean influences, gives the wine its distinctive characteristics. A small portion of this wine (approximately 30%) ages for six months in second-use barriques used for the Lagrein Riserva, the remainder in stainless steel to preserve and enhance its freshness and aromas.
