Description:
Deep, intense ruby red with garnet highlights. The nose intertwines notes of ripe red fruits such as blackberry and blackcurrant, spicy hints of black pepper and cloves, and delicate balsamic and aromatic herb nuances. Elegant hints of tobacco and leather, the result of the oak aging, are also evident. On the palate, the wine is powerful and structured, with fine, well-integrated tannins, notes of ripe plum and brandied cherry, and nuances of dark chocolate and licorice. The acidity is balanced, lending freshness despite the impressive structure. The finish is long and persistent, with an elegant return of spices and berries. Ideal paired with complex dishes such as roasted red meats, game, braised meats, and aged cheeses, but also as a sipping wine.
The winemaking process involves separate fermentation of the grapes, with maceration on the skins for approximately three weeks. After blending, the wine is aged in barriques for 12 months, followed by a further period of bottle aging.
The production philosophy of the Manincor estate, located on the shores of Lake Caldaro in Alto Adige, is based on biodynamic principles, respecting the natural rhythms of the vines and the surrounding environment. Il Conte, along with La Contessa, represents the pinnacle of the estate's production, a wine that combines Alto Adige tradition with an international style.
