Description:
Bright coral in color with pink highlights, it offers delicate aromas of red berries, strawberry, black pepper, and herbaceous notes characteristic of this rare hybrid. On the palate, it is fresh, savory, and slightly tannic, with a pleasant acidic vivacity that provides balance and a clean finish with fruity and spicy overtones, hints of vanilla. This wine's distinctiveness lies in the uniqueness of the Rotberger grape variety in Italy. It pairs excellently as an aperitif, with cold appetizers, raw shellfish, fresh cheeses, seafood pizza, and delicate pasta dishes. Perfect with savory baked goods, seafood salads, and light traditional Trentino dishes.
Rotberger is a rare German cross between Riesling and Schiava, created to maximize the grape's color. Pojer and Sandri produce the only Rotberger in Italy, a boldly pioneering choice that demonstrates the winery's experimental philosophy. Production is limited to approximately 8,000 bottles annually. The grape variety's name itself reveals its nature: "Rotberger" literally means "red mountain" in German. The winery uses screwcaps for its still wines, primarily as an ecological choice to avoid cutting down cork trees, a decision that reflects its ongoing commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly viticulture. Vinification involves soft pressing and fermentation in stainless steel, preserving the freshness and immediacy of the fruit.
