Type: still
Grape variety: Sagrantino
Alcohol content: 14.5%
Bottling location: Montefalco (PG) ITALY
Description:
An intense ruby red color verging on garnet, it offers a long and complex bouquet of ripe red fruits, blackberry, and plum jam, with spicy and balsamic notes. On the palate, it is powerful and structured, with the firm tannins typical of Sagrantino, supported by a pleasant freshness. The finish is long and persistent, extremely pleasant. Perfect with flavorful first courses as well as braised or stewed red meats, including wild boar, lamb, and game, it is also excellent with mature cheeses.
For four generations, the Napolini family has run the eponymous winery in the heart of the Montefalco DOCG hills, from cultivation to sale. This wine is left to macerate on the skins for approximately 30-35 days, then aged in barriques for 6 months and finally in Slavonian oak barrels for another 18 months. It then ages in the bottle for approximately 9 months.
