Designation of Origin: Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG

Type: still
Grapes: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella
Alcohol content: 15.5%
Bottling Location: Valle di Mezzane (VE) ITALY
Description:
It offers a dark garnet red color, an intense and sweet aroma of black berries in alcohol with notes of spice and dried plum. The palate is full-bodied and rich in fruit, with harmonious tannins and a long, flavorful finish with hints of citrus. A meditation wine, it's perfect with goulash and meat sauce, and is generally recommended for pairing with complex, spicy flavors, including vegetarian ones. It also pairs very well with aged cheeses. Best served at 18°C in a large glass.
Produced in the Mezzane Valley, one of the easternmost in the Valpolicella appellation, at an altitude of 210 to 250 meters with a southern exposure in limestone-rich soils. The group of small valleys that make up the appellation, in the bend of the Adige River flowing from the Alps, north of the city of Verona, was already cited by Pliny the Elder as a place of great agricultural quality, and it has remained so through the Middle Ages and to this day.
The grapes, harvested in the first ten days of October through manual selection, are left to dry according to tradition in the fruit cellar for about 3 months, then fermented using indigenous yeasts in steel tanks and aged in 25 hl oak barrels for about 2 years.
